Privacy

I realize that by now, everyone probably has my information already because of the many different breaches out there that seem to happen every day, but still I have to at least try to protect my identity right?

I was very interested in learning more about privacy.com because they offer the ability to create one-off or limited fund credit cards for use on websites, etc.  This appeals to me as it limites liability if I use a card and it can’t get more than what I allow them. In order to add an account to fund purchases with the virtual cards, I have to add an account.  That all makes sense… but… they want me to give them my bank login credentials in order to do so.  No, not the normal stuff you provide when adding a checking account like routing number and account info.  They want my username and password.  Uhmm. I’m pretty sure I have umpteen emails telling me not to do this.  I’ve been in the digital age for more years than I care to remember, but keeping your login info sacrosanct is a primary rule of the internet.

“But wait, we promise to encrypt your info and never ever use it badly or give it out!”

Sure, sure, I totally believe you.  I bet you have some lottery winnings you need help claiming too?  Maybe I should see if you lost my credentials in a breech too?  How about I just post it in plaintext here on my site and skip the middle men?

Oh well, I really like the idea, maybe if they get on board with normal procedures, I can give them a try, until then, I’ll be keeping my login private, at least from privacy.com.

Edit: As an update, someone contacted me to try and find out why I never setup an account and they were able to enable ability to use checking information.  Not sure why they keep it secret but will probably test in a bit after I read some reviews, etc.
