Table Addressing

Had a spare moment between meetings and stopped by Chick-Fil-A for a drink since I had a free one for this month’s offer and the month is almost over.  So I’m sitting here writing a blog post and realizing it seems something a hipster writer wannabe might do.  Definitely not the norm for an old fogey like myself.  Of course blogs in general are pretty old fashioned in tech terms at this point.  They were the rage for a while but died down due to the encroaching social media and the fact you’ve given everyone a digital pen and paper now. Oh well, I’ve wasted enough time decompressing from the last meeting, time to get back to work and grading midterms.  Plus I need a refill…

$5 Boxes

I love the KFC $5 box. It’s quite a value to get three tenders, their mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuit, cookie, and drink for just five measly dollars.  Plus, it’s better than other fast food alternatives and generally speaking quite tasty, especially the potatoes and gravy.  That said though… Continue reading $5 Boxes

Iron Fist

So there was some controversy over the latest Netflix Marvel series.  Some people didn’t realize he was a Caucasian and were made that he wasn’t Asian. Those people are just dumb.  Others were just disappointed for some reason, mostly cause they are cynical cynic types.  The real test?  Anyone I’ve asked or has asked me about it has watched the entire show already, bringing it in one weekend.  That’s the sign of a good show and the only review that really matters.

Divinity

I finally got around to playing an rpg from my backlog called Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.  It’s an isometric old school game like Baldur’s Gate or Diablo.  Movement is realtime but combat is turn based and strategic with combinations of skills and using the environment being the key to winning over death.  It rewards exploration, reading, and making good decisions; hardening back to the grand old days when things weren’t just handed to you. Well worth it if you like that and have the time to dedicate to it.

Crossing the Borderlands

I finally got around to finishing the telltale adventure game, Tales from the Borderlands and enjoyed it tremendously on my second attempt.  The first time around I got a little ways in but didn’t really feel it.  This time however the characters grew on me and I enjoyed the humor and insanity that Borderlands brings to the Telltale formula. The only negative was you found money randomly and got to use it on novelty customization options during the game. However it felt like anything beyond the free option was always out of reach despite looking everywhere and exploring all options.  Why give us options if the economy won’t support them, it’s not like you can go back later for most of them as it’s a linear story.  That aside, it was funny and charming and even though the two main characters don’t get together, it was a satisfying experience that I’d consider one of their best.

DST

Ugh. Daylight Savings Time is so annoying. When I get around to making my presidential platform, eliminating DST will be on it.  At least this year my body was waking up earlier in anticipation, but it is still jarring.

Previously on…

Netflix and the like really need to add in recaps between seasons. It’s great to get a dump of great new content to binge, but when it’s been a while since the last release, remembering who is who and what happened last time can be tough. Sure, it’s a bit of a first world problem, but man would it help.
