Not so Marvelous

While browsing the app store, I noticed Marvel had released a coloring app.  Given I love the quality of their adult coloring books (that seem to be the rage these days) I decided to give the app a download as it was free to try.  There are pros and one big con to it.

The pros:

It’s a quality app, with lots of options.  You can free color with different brushes etc and it even automatically will stay in the lines for you to account for fat fingers and small areas. It works extremely well.

It has tons of content available in the form of pages directly from the afore-mentioned physical coloring books I like so much.

Overall, it’s a great experience… for what you can do as a demo.

The con:

The cost.  The demo gives you a few pages and tools, but then you have to pay to get more and the price is steep. They want 2.99 a week to access the content.  Of course, you can save money if you subscribe longer with a year access being $33.99.  I mean they do have a number of books in there to color, but that seems a bit high for what you get.  If it was a more reasonable one-time unlock or cheap for individual books/etc.

It’s actually a great and polished app, just at a price that shows how Marvel just doesn’t quite understand the market.
