Taking a Sheetz

As far as gas stations go, I typically frequent the local Sheetz on the way to work.  The gas prices are always decent, it’s on the way to work, and any size soda is only 99 cents.  They also had a nice deal with their loyalty card where every ten drinks would net you a free drink.  It was a great thing to get a free one every so often.  Then they rolled out the ‘bigger, better, sheetzier’ program.

I think the last part of that is the key, sheetzier, as in the only people that will like it better is Sheetz.  At least for my particular use case, it made it much much worse.  Before the change, I’d get a free drink for every ten drinks I bought.  Now you get five points for every $1 spent.  Since the drink is 99cents, they apparently seem to round down and it’s only four points.  To score a free drink, you need to collect 250 points.

To simplify it into quick and dirty math.

Old card: $10 in drinks netted $1 in free drink.

New card: $50 in whatever nets you $1 in free rink.

Of course the above is best case scenario where I got all five points per dollar spent.  Since I buy 99cent drinks, I only get four per dollar so it’s actually more like…

Old card: 10 drinks netted me 1 free drink.

New card (for me): 63 drinks nets me 1 free drink.

I’m not sure what Bigger or Better means in your world Sheetz, but I do agree that it is definitely Sheetzier.
